Whether you are going for a modern look, traditional feel or farmhouse accents, the right selections can help achieve any of these designs…Let’s dive in!

Windows

When choosing windows, consider several key factors including color, brand, material, functionality, and style.

1. Color

The color of your windows affects both the exterior and interior aesthetics.

  • Choose the exterior color as well as the interior color of the frame & grills

  • White is standard throughout all brands

  • The cost to upgrade your window to a color other than white depends on the brand

  • Higher end windows offer a variety of colors, options for one color on the inside and a different color on the outside, or a finished outside with a paint ready interior

2. Functionality

The way your windows open and operate is important for both convenience and ventilation. Common window types include:

  • Double Hung: Two operating sashes that each move up and down.

  • Single Hung: Only the bottom sash operates, moving up and down.

  • Casement: Hinged on the side and crank open outward to the left or right. Casements are typically more expensive than double hung windows but offer added performance benefits.

  • Awning and Sliding: Popular for basement windows. Hinged at the top or the bottom and crank open outward.

  • Sliding: Another popular for basement windows. One or both sashes slide left and right to open.

  • Picture: Fixed windows do not open, designed to showcase outdoor views and let in natural light. They’re perfect for spaces where you want natural light and scenery without needing ventilation.

The most common are double hung and casemate!

Garage Doors

Windows and garage doors are both functional and aesthetic elements. Choose styles that complement your home’s overall design. Consider material, color, and hardware. For garage doors, think about the finish, panel style, and insulation, especially if the garage is attached to living spaces.

Putting It All Together

Choosing the right windows and garage doors is more than picking a style you like. These elements define your home’s overall look, improve functionality, and enhance comfort and energy efficiency. With Evolution as your design-build partner, our team will guide you through every decision to ensure your selections match your vision, perform beautifully, and stand the test of time.

Thoughtful planning and expert guidance let you enjoy a home that is uniquely yours from the inside out.
