Jen's Story

Jennifer DeVito, a Long Island real estate broker and general contractor. Resides in Northport, NY with her husband and four kids.

She has been working in the construction field from the young age of 5 alongside her father, Dave Johansen, of Johansen Excavating. She learned very early on what it takes to work in a male dominated industry, from operating heavy machinery to shooting grades for a new foundation. By the time she graduated from North Shore High School, she understood how to run a company because of the time spent in the office with her mom, JoAnn Johansen.

Having the entrepreneurial spirit in her blood, Jen knew that obtaining her graduate and MBA degrees from Stony Brook University and Dowling College by the age of 21 would expand on her innate business mindset. It would be the internship with Pulte Homes she got at her college career fair that ignited the flame inside of her. This national homebuilder, is where Jen learned everything about building a house which she would soon use as the foundation of her own company Evolution Real Estate & Renovations.

Jen quickly moved through the ranks. She started out as an Assistant Construction Superintendent at a 400-unit multi-family project. Within 3 years she moved up to Job Super and ultimately Pulte’s first female Project Manager in New York, running a 240-unit jobsite in Massapequa.

The key component that makes all of the above possible….Real Estate! So, in addition to building hundreds of homes, condos and townhouses, Jen became a licensed real estate agent with Exit Realty. Purchasing her first project on her own and turning what was a rundown house in a nice neighborhood to a beautiful home. She put it up for sale herself and it quickly turned a profit. Jen would soon find herself helping customers buying or selling their homes, and renovating them! She obtained her Real Estate Broker License and started Evolution Real Estate & Renovations!

As Pulte Homes left Long Island in 2015 and Jen wrapped up their last project in Westhampton Beach, her side business had now become her full-time passion. Jen’s unique dual skill set has finally brought value to what we know as the unscrupulous real estate agent and become a positive market disrupter!
